The Ethos of Splashy Fen is what drives this festival. Splashy is a festival with a soul, a festival that attracts people from all over our beautiful country, and visitors from abroad. It is a festival free of bias and judgement, and festival that has been dubbed by all who have attended as “SA’s Friendliest Festival”.
Our ethos at Splashy is to provide a festival that allows our attendees to break free from a world that dictates much of what we should do and when we should do it. A festival that allows us all to connect with the outdoors, friends and family in an environment that allows us to break free from our day to day worries and stresses.
At Splashy, we as organisers, along with our staff, commit to providing a safe, enjoyable and value for money environment and festival experience for everyone. We encourage our attendees to experience our festival within this ethos, an ethos that has lived within the festival grounds since 1990 and touched over three generations and more than 150 000 people to date.
Splashy is a special experience for everyone who attends, and those who do feel part of a special community of people who have experienced the festival. Extend those memories by purchasing one of our merchandise options at our Splashy Merch Shop, located on the main walkway.
Our range of merchandise offerings will be listed here once confirmed for the 2020 festival.
In order to make travel to Splashy Fen that much easier (and more festive for some), we have teamed up with the guys from Zeelo who are offering bus transfers to and from the festival.
Pricing will be R400 from DBN and R350 from PMB up until 1 month prior to the festival. Thereafter the pricing for a return bus ticket will be R450 from DBN and R400 from PMB.
The infamous Splashy Craft Market has been around since 1990, with some of our vendors having traded at as many as 28 Splashy Fens. With over 30 craft stalls on site, Splashy offers a wonderful array of gifting, craft and individual products made by talented South Africans.
Splashy takes place in the beautiful Southern Drakensberg, a world heritage site. A recent study by Tourism KZN indicated that the economic effect of the festival on KZN is in the region of R35-45 Million, a massive contributor to the KZN economy over the Easter Weekend. A key part of Splashy’s economic contribution is focussed on our N3TC Splashy cares program, our CSI project that aims to develop skills and services within the local community in order to operate and stage Splashy Fen. This is further extended through the inclusion of Maskandi and traditional music in the festival schedules, a genre of music that is proudly representative of our area. The project, funded by the amazing N3 Toll Concession, not only develops skills for operating the festival but brings musicians to Splashy who otherwise may not have got the opportunity to perform on such a large stage. This initiative is close to the hearts of Splashy and the N3TC and we are proud of what this project has achieved to date. Festival attendees can donate to this project from as little as R5, by selecting the donation option when purchasing their tickets online.
