FOR US TO SUCCESSFULLY STAGE SPLASHY AT THE STANDARD YOU HAVE BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO, WE WOULD NEED A MINIMUM OF 2 ½ MONTHS TO ORGANISE THE EVENT AND SO WE HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO ANNOUNCE THIS DECISION.
We’ve done all we can to ensure that we can provide some kind of refund to our fans without the festival filing for bankruptcy. The following refund policy will apply:
In order for Splashy Fen to still be in a position to open its door in the future, we are appealing to our fans for support. In supporting us, you will have the ability to choose one of 3 refund options available, which you need to select FOR EACH TICKET YOU PURCHASED. We respectfully ask those who are in a position to help us by considering option 1 or option 2 in order to help this special festival. Refund options are as follows:
OPTION 1: Become a #SPLASHYHERO
By choosing option 1, you will be donating your full 2020 ticket fee to the festival, while at the same time having access to a special 20% discounted ticket in 2021. In donating your full festival ticket, you will have your name placed onto a special #splashyhero commemorative wall on our festival site. In addition, should you donate your full ticket fee, you will stand in line to win one of the following amazing give-aways:
7 nights for 2 people to Eden Island Seychelles worth R160 000.
2 x 2 nights for 2 people to Nambiti Hills Private Game Reserve worth R30 000 each.
6 nights for 4 people to Pondo Beach Camps worth R9 000.
A full 4-day Splashy Fen Glamping experience for 2021 worth R6 000.
OPTION 2: 35% REFUND PACKAGE
15% cash back refund, and a 20% discount on your 2021 festival ticket.
You will also be given a special #splashyhero cap at our 2021 festival (you will need to be at the 2021 festival to collect the cap or have someone collect on your behalf).
OPTION 3: 50% REFUND PACKAGE
30% cash back refund, and a 20% discount on your 2021 festival ticket.
All additional purchases (namely early camping and powered campsite bookings) will be given an automatic 50% cash refund.

Why has Splashy Fen cancelled the 2020 festival?
Due to COVID-19, the SA Government has placed a ban on mass gatherings and events, which will not allow Splashy Fen to take place. Should that ban be lifted, there will still be strict social distancing measures in place for events for the next few months, measures that would detract significantly from the Splashy Fen experience and so would not be possible to enforce at a music festival.
How did Splashy Fen decide on their refund policy?
These are unprecedented times. With only 3 weeks to go until Splashy 2020 in April, we were forced to postpone to the September date, and now cancel. Our festival site takes 5 weeks to setup, and so we were well into our process of getting ready to welcome 10 000 people. That included several service providers who had already setup and delivered items, and the festival had already undergone a significant cost to stage the 2020 event. The standard refund policy as it currently stands offers people a 30% cash refund only. While many other events have chosen to enforce a no-refunds policy due to Force Majeure, we have done our best to ensure that we do not have to enforce such a drastic rule. In doing so, we felt that some of our fans were in more need than others, and so have implemented the ‘choose your own refund’ option from the 3 options we have available.
Is the cancellation of Splashy Fen 2020 a final decision? If anything changes before September with regards to government regulations, could it be on again?
Unfortunately Splashy Fen is one of the largest events in SA and requires a significant amount of time and effort to plan and organise. Based on this and the fact that social distancing will be enforced for the foreseeable future, the cancellation of Splashy Fen 2020 is a final decision.
I bought cancellation insurance on my Splashy Fen ticket. Does that cover me?
The cancellation insurance is a product offered by Howler, not Splashy Fen. Please contact Howler to enquire about their cancellation insurance policy.
Can we carry our ticket over to 2021?
Unfortunately this would only be possible if we as a festival had not gone through any costs to date. We have undergone significant expenses already to stage Splashy 2020, and to carry that debit over to next year would force the event to liquidate.
Why doesn’t Splashy Fen have insurance for such cancellations?
Pandemic insurance is a very specific insurance which no event insurance company offers in South Africa. So our insurance that is in place does not have this cover, and even if we wanted it, no insurer in the live music industry would offer it in South Africa.
I bought more than one ticket – how do I process those refunds?
You will need to choose one of the three refund options for each of the tickets you have purchased. You can do this by logging into your Howler account and working through the refund option for each ticket.
If I am keen to help Splashy Fen and donate my festival ticket. Do I need to log on?
THANK YOU! If you intended to join our #SPLASHYHERO wall and donate your full festival ticket amount, then you don’t need to do anything. We will presume that by not choosing a refund option on your account, that you have chosen to donate your full festival ticket fee.
How do I redeem my 20% off my 2021 Festival Ticket?
This special ticket will be made available at the start of our ticket sale process for the 2021 event and will be communicated to you at the time via a unique link sent to your email.
How long do I have to process my refund option? If I don’t choose any option, what will happen?
Fans will be able to log in and process their refund amount for a period of 1 month (until and including 2nd August). Should no option be chosen, we will take your ticket and consider it a donation to our #SPLASHYHERO campaign. Thank you.
Will Splashy Fen take place in 2021?
We have every intention that it will, and will continue to follow the scenario closely for planning purposes. The proposed 2021 dates are 1st – 4th April, Easter 2021, and these will be confirmed as soon as we are able to announce accordingly.
